Motivational Monday: Remembering Chinx Drugz

It was a tragic end to the weekend for Hip-hop due to the passing of Lionel Pickens, best known by his rap alias -- Chinx Drugz. A lot of artists have expressed their condolences, reflecting on the violent nature of his death. After his performance at Club Red Wolf in Brooklyn, NY yesterday morning, Chinx became the victim of a drive-by shooting. Much like Lionel's close friend Rayquan Elliot a.k.a Stack Bundles, who suffered from a fatal shot to the head outside of his apartment building back in 2007, Lionel's rise as a prominent figure in the music industry was sadly cut short.

Rather than harvest all of the heartache that has been lingering over the past 2 days, Superego aims to honor the memory of Chinx Drugz, shedding light on his uprising and strive towards success. Chinx musical career began back in 2000 when he linked up with Stack Bundles, eventually forming the rap group -- RiotSquad. #SquadUp #Cheea. Together, they put Far Rockaway on the map. It was through Stack that Chinx was able to connect with French Montana. After their mutual loss, Chinx and French tightened their bond and created the popular hip hop group -- Coke Boys. By 2009, Chinx released his first solo mixtape titled, Hurry Up & Die Vol. 1: Get Ya Casket On

In 2011, Chinx set fire to the streets with the release of his fifth solo mixtape, Cocaine Riot. For the next 3 years, he continued the Cocaine Riot mixtape series, ending with Cocaine Riot 5 in 2014. With persistence and an exemplar work-ethic, Chinx simultaneously worked on group projects such as the second, third, and fourth installment of the Coke Boys mixtape series. Given his hustle, it comes as no surprise that Chinx Drugz was able to establish quite a fan-base for himself. Our Chief of Staff, Carlos Richardson hailing from Boston, MA, holds a tremendous level of respect for the Queens Rapper. He had the pleasure of connecting with Chinx at the 2014 Agenda Trade Show NYC Event.

Chinx was an artist, a father and a husband. His legacy shall live on. Here are some thought-provoking quotes from Chinx Drugs to motivate you on your road to success.

"They say to reach success, you gotta take a loss."

"You never see the picture through a fools eyes, when you know people you aint gotta choose sides"

"Nowadays life it don't cost much, protect what you love"

Tune in below to check out Meek Mill's new song dedicated to Chinx as well as Lil Snupe, who was also killed at a crucial time during his music career.

Superego extends its condolences to the Pickens family, the Coke Boyz team, and the Riot Squad.
