Motivational Monday: Chicago Charter School Triumphs

America's third largest city earned the moniker -- Chiraq after a bloody Easter weekend last year with 45 shootings that left about 9 dead and 36 injured. What's most interesting is that the native genre -- Drill Music, defined by its dark, grim, violent lyrical content and ominous trap-influenced beats, broke into mainstream in mid-2012. While the music is most entertaining, especially among the younger generation, I wouldn't be surprised if there was strong correlation between that and the magnitude of crime in Chiraq; but you be the judge.

Despite all that the media portrays today regarding Chicago, Illinois, the Windy City has much more to offer than just violence and gang banging. This week's Motivational Monday highlights the feat of Chicago Charter School -- Urban Prep AcademyFor five consecutive years, all of the graduates of this school have been accepted at four-year colleges and universities. Miami Heat star, Dwyane Wade was so impressed with the news of the school’s continued success that he donated $10,000 to offset the cost of the prom for the 2014 graduating class. As the end of the school year fast approaches, I hope that the class of 2015 were able to keep the tradition alive and make it a success of six years back-to-back.
