Facebook Buys Matrix Machine for $2 Billion

After blowing a cool $19 billion on WhatsApp, Facebook just purchased the Oculus Rift company for $2 billion. The Oculus Rift is a fully immersive virtual reality headset. In 2012, the Oculus team went after a Kickstarter campaign to raise $250,000 to bring their product to life.... They ended up surpassing that in a day and then raking in almost $2.5 million by the end of the month. Since then they've continued to improve the comfort and presence of being in a virtual reality and will operate under Facebook as an independent company while balling out on those who supported through kickstarter early but never got equity (shoutout to crowdfunding!). Although initially created for gaming, this might really be the start of the Matrix. Facebook already has everyone glued to the computer screen and crafting their identity through it, now they finally have the machine that won't let you leave!
