We’ve all heard that age old philosophical mind fuck of a question: “If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
Apparently it can, if you build a custom vinyl record player. Artist Bartholomäus Traubeck took cross sections of a tree, and created a record player embedded with a camera that reads the tree rings to then convert into a piano track.
The track actually sounds like a dark fairytale, and isn’t too far from entering the composer hall of fame. The only thing left to wonder is who’ll be the first producer to sample the tree rings, AND give them a production credit on the album?
