Vegetables are Being Grown in Antarctica. Next up is Mars!

If you have ever seen "The Martian" with Matt Damon, you may recall the part of the movie where he is required to grow his own food.  With his food supply diminishing and being stranded on the planet, his last option is to attempt to grow potatoes on Mars.  Although in the movie he is successful, many may think this is unrealistic.  In actuality, it's not that far-fetched.  The scientists at Germany’s Neumayer Station III have been growing vegetables in Antarctica in a high tech greenhouse.  The successful experiment was put in place to see how plants can grow in hostile and inhospitable environments.  Although Mars is vastly different from Antarctica, the results from this project are promising. Maybe one day in the future there will be a variety of plants growing on the moon and on Mars. Learn More Here!
