This Mobile 'Airbag' Prevents Dropped Phones From Cracking
The "Mobile Airbag" is quickly becoming a viral sensation, as many people are wondering when and where they can get the device. The Mobile Airbag is essentially a protective case that is fitted with sensors that can detect when your phone is free-falling. Once it detects that your phone is actually falling, metal springs pop out and protect the phone from making contact with the floor. The idea is pretty clever although the Mobile Airbag does look a bit outlandish when deployed. The device was developed by an engineering student named Philip Frenzel. Frenzel's invention recently won Germany’s Mechatronics Prize for 2018 and he calls it the “AD Case,” short for 'active damping'. As far as availability, Frenzel hopes to get a kickstarter campaign live around July. Check out the video below to see it in action and stay tuned for its release!
