Half of the plastics in the world are made only to be used once. There is an obvious issue with single-use plastics as they are discarded and take forever to decompose. The most obvious solutions are 1. Cut back on production. 2. Make reusable plastics. or 3. Make plastic alternatives that are more biodegradable. The last solution is most logical to me. French company Lactips, for example, has developed a type of packaging that is edible and biodegradable, and get this..it's milk based. Despite being water-soluble and biodegradable, the packaging creates a good oxygen barrier that keeps goods fresh. Check out the short video below to learn more about Lactips.
