 Eco-friendly Alternatives To Synthetic Fabric

Synthetic fabrics are toxic and have done far too much harm to our environment. Our environment and health have been poisoned through the use of clothing items made from synthetic fabrics. Aside from the beautiful clothing produced from synthetic fabrics, synthetic fiber has no other benefit to give our planet. Sustainable energy is impossible if the clothing industry continues with this toxic trend.

The chemicals and waste products from synthetic fabrics end up in our water and pollute the air we breathe. It is impossible to achieve a sustainable development if our path is not redeemed from synthetic fabrics. With growing efforts to make a sustainable environment, there are more eco-friendly alternatives the clothing industry should look into. Eco-friendly alternatives like organic cotton, bamboo, hemp, fish, plant are absolutely free from posing any harm to our health and environment.

Sustainable textile innovation is the new big thing in the cloth manufacturing industry. They are harmless, unlike synthetic fabrics.

Hemp

Did you know that you can make clothes from hemp? Hemp is the most versatile plant on earth. It serves so many purposes at once. It can cure you, care for your skin, make a home for you and still clothe you. Hemp textiles are more resistant and stronger compared to cotton. They are non-irritating and are ultimately eco-friendly.

The plant grows without stressing you out; it requires little attention to cultivate. Most importantly, hemp does not deplete soil nutrients. Hemp fabric is warm, breathable, UV resistant, antibacterial, and it wicks moisture. It is a highly durable fabric; it gets softer with washing. Hemp is a very appealing and clean alternative to synthetic fabric. As far as sustainability is concerned, hemp fabric is the best and safest alternative.

Bamboo

Bamboo fabrics are natural fibers produced from the bamboo plant. Bamboo is a highly sustainable plant that is non-destructive to the environment. It gives off fabric with natural antibacterial properties. The fabric is totally biodegradable, breathable, and with less chemical input.

Since bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, it is widely available to be used by designers. Bamboo cultivation requires no stress or hassle, no chemical fertilizer needed. Application of pesticide is also not required. Bamboo reduces soil erosion and enhances soil fertility.

Bamboo fabric is highly durable. It has a silky texture with moisture wicking properties. The quality of this eco-friendly fabric can create a new trend in the clothing industry. Bamboo is an incredibly sustainable fabric that helps maintain a better and healthy environment.

Fish Leather

Eco-friendly fish fabric is an exotic fabric gotten from fish skin. This natural by-product is recycled into fabrics. The fish fabric is a highly sustainable by-product. It undergoes a process that makes use of hydro and geothermal energy. The end product is a durable, odor-free fabric and leather. The scale pattern on the fish skin creates a unique design, which is sometimes highlighted with metallic touches to create a vibrant design.

The fish fabric and leather are absolutely eco-friendly. They cause no harm to the environment. Fish leather is a great alternative to the traditional hides.  It is gotten from species such as salmon, perch, and carp. They are taken as a substitute for endangered species like the crocodile and snake.

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is a great eco-friendly alternative to synthetic fabric. It is grown without harmful, synthetic chemical input. It is absolutely better for your health and the environment. It protects the health of every living thing under the planet by limiting overall exposure to toxic chemicals associated with health consequences and diseases like asthma and cancer. As an organic product, it's an easy way to shield the environment and every individual.

Organic cotton cultivation replenishes and maintains soil fertility and helps to build a biologically diverse agriculture. The fabric is useful in the textile industry due to its natural moisture wicking property. It is anti-allergenic and doesn't cause any irritation to the skin. Clothing from organic cotton is lightweight due to its natural wax. Organic cotton has a characteristic smoothness and weight that makes it particularly comfortable to be worn. Cotton is of low price, well-developed expertise, and biodegradable fibers.

Tencel

Tencel or Eucalyptus fabric is fully biodegradable. It is made from a natural cellulose wood pulp. Tencel is extremely soft and incredibly sensitive to the skin. This fiber is well known for its flattering drape and soft epicurean hand feel. It has moisture wicking properties. The production and use of Tencel is completely eco-friendly.

Over the years, Tencel has become the fabric of choice for every designer. This is due to the awakening to the toxic effect of synthetic fibers. Tencel is light and versatile; it can be drawn or styled into just anything. It has great absorption characteristics. It has an absorbent characteristic that is 50% more than cotton. Tencel fabrics are less affected by bacterial growth and are more breathable. They are the best and most appropriate activewear for a yoga session and sweaty gym. Tencel is a brand name from a fiber called lyocell.

Linen

Linen is one of the biggest developments in sustainable fabrics. Linen is made from hairs of the flax plant. The flax plant is an annual plant. They have attractive and eco-friendly properties that make them better than synthetic fabrics. Linen is the most enjoyable fabric in hot weather. It provides coolness as it allows for more airflow. Basically,  it allows your body to breathe.

Linen has a high absorbency and good heat conductivity. It allows heat to escape from the surface of the skin thereby providing a cooling sensation to the wearer. Flax fiber (linen) is much thicker than cotton. It is strong, durable and can last for a long time. The long-lasting property of linen makes it the best option for sportswear. Linen can be easily washed, and with this, it proves to be a more accurate alternative to synthetic fabric.

These sustainable fabrics are the best solution to counter the harmful effects of synthetic fabrics on our environment.
