We can't stress enough how important it is for us as a planet to eliminate plastic pollution.  For years, plastic waste has been building up since most plastics that are made aren't biodegradable and take up to 1,000 years to decompose.  Many companies are starting to think more sustainably about how they package goods and are trying to make a smaller footprint on the environment.  What if, however, no footprint can be made at all?  A group of Chilean engineers have created a bag that is completely biodegradable.  The Solubag is a water soluble bag made from limestone that completely dissolves in water.  The aim of this bag is to replace single-use plastic bags that are used in grocery stores and shops around the world.

The Solubag looks and feels just like a regular plastic bag but dissolves in water without any damage to the environment.  They claim its even safe to drink the water that the bag is dissolved in.  More than 1 trillion plastic bags are used each year around the world, and these bags either end up in landfills for years or end up in our oceans. The Solubag is an innovative solution that could potentially replace plastic bags.  Watch the video below to learn more about the Solubag and how it works!
