Navajo Tribes Will Soon Start Growing Hemp
The global hemp industry is is estimated to be about an $800 million market and is still growing. The Navajo, in conjunction with CannaNative may soon start growing hemp on their land seeing as they have just signed their first resolution to grow industrial hemp from the cannabis plant. The Department of Justice opened the door for hemp cultivation by Native American tribes in 2014. The department agreed that tribes can set cannabis-related laws just as states can. CannaNative is supposedly in final talks with the Navajo Nation, so they might have their hands in the hemp industry sooner than later. It makes sense that Native Americans should have access to grow hemp first since they were on American soil first!
