There have been talks for a while that Lego would be eventually switching to a more environmentally-friendly material. We here at Superego were hoping they would explore hemp plastics. Although they have decided to go with a different kind of bioplastic, we are still ecstatic to hear the news. This year they will be introducing their new sustainable play pieces which are made from a bioplastic sourced from Brazilian sugarcane. The new bioplastic has been described as "soft, durable, and flexible". Although the pieces are limited to trees, bushes, and other 'botanical elements' for now, in the future Lego hopes to use bioplastics for all of their pieces. Stay tuned!
