Gucci is Going Fur-Free in 2018

In the high fashion world, fur has always been a luxurious item that many designers have utilized.  For decades fur has represented fashion, wealth, and classiness.  As of late, however, many celebrities and designers have decided to take a stance against fur and even join forces with PETA.  Gucci is the latest luxury brand to make the announcement that they will be going fur-free.  This is obviously huge news as Gucci is one of the most popular high fashion brands of our time.  The Italian brand has been a staple of fashion since the early 1900's, so this move is a big one.  President Kitty Block of the Humane Society was quoted in The Guardian saying:

"Gucci going fur-free is a huge game-changer. For this Italian powerhouse to end the use of fur because of the cruelty involved will have a huge ripple effect throughout the world of fashion."

Let's hope that this ripple effect does occur and that many big brands start to take more sustainable approaches when designing collections!
