The
Chinese city of Xian in Shaanxi province has waged war on air pollution. Since the city mostly relies on coal for heating, the result is a significant amount of smog in the air. The city decided to make a crucial decision to help combat the amount of harmful pollutants in the air. They erected the worlds largest air purifier. Standing at 328 feet tall, the large tower has already started to improve the quality of the air in the city. Surrounding the tower's base are greenhouses where the air is pulled and heated, then it rises through the tower which has several layers of cleaning filters. Lead Scientist Cau Junji believes the results so far are promising and that the tower can be a great tool in the country's fight against air pollution. Check out some images of the tower below!
