9-Year-Old-Girl Designs Under Armour‘s new ICON Curry 6
Today is International Women's Day, and what better way for Under Armour to celebrate than to release an exclusive sneaker designed by a 9-Year-Old-Girl. It all started with a letter that Riley Morrison wrote to Steph Curry last fall.
“Dear Stephen Curry, My name is Riley (just like your daughter :)), I’m 9 years old from Napa, California. I am a big fan of yours. I enjoy going to Warriors games with my dad. I asked my dad to buy me the new Curry 5’s because I’m starting a new basketball season. My dad and I visited the Under Armour website and were disappointed to see that there were no Curry 5’s for sale under the girls section. I know you support girls athletes because you have two daughters and you host an all girls basketball camp,” she continued. “I hope you can work with Under Armour to change this because girls want to rock Curry 5’s too.”
Well, Steph Curry ended up responding and giving her a pair of Curry 5's. But Curry and Under Armour went even further and designed a whole sneaker in honor of Riley Morrison and her courage to speak up! Stephen named the shoe “United We Win” and even asked Riley to design one of the sock liners. Curry surprised Morrison by unveiling the shoe at his SC30 x Oakland pop-up yesterday, where the shoes are available for purchase. The kicks retail for $130, and sales of the shoe will go to a scholarship fund started by the Curry Family Foundation. You can also purchase the ICON Curry 6's HERE!
