A lot of talk in hip-hop news today is surrounding Vic Mensa's decision to sign with Roc Nation. We already knew Vic had close ties with Kanye as he worked on the songs Wolves and U Mad; I guess these releases caught Jay's attention, or perhaps Kanye put in a good word. Who is Vic Mensa you ask? A young MC from Chicago, close friends with Chance the Rapper, with a very unique sound and delivery. Why is this Roc Nation deal so big? Because Jay-z has only a few hip-hop artists actually signed to the label (beyond simply management).
In light of this new deal, it seems only right Jay-z does a song with the young spitter. He has done multiple songs with J. Cole, Kanye, and even Jay Electronica; all signed to his label. Black Ghosts seems like a fitting title for this collab considering Vic's music has been particular dark as of lately. I could see a very menacing beat and a bombardment of bars from both of these MC's. Hell, why not even get Kanye on the production.
