Throwback Thursday: Aaliyah - Miss You

This month, just 13 years ago; family , friends, fans and collaborators alike lost the blossoming and ravishing, Aaliyah Dana Haughton. This video is their tribute to her.

Aaliyah mounted as a salient figure in the music and film industry throughout her career as a recording artist, dancer, actress and model. With billboard hits such as One in a Million and Try Again as well as star appearances in Romeo Must Die and Queen of the Damned, the idol stunned listeners and viewers alike. She was, without a doubt, cut from a different cloth.

The lead single, "Miss you," was written by Johnta Austin, Ginuwine and Teddy Bishop in 1998 and initially recorded in 2000 for Aliyah's self-titled third studio album (2001). However, the track remained unreleased and was instead included on the posthumously released compilation album, I Care 4 U (2002). The video includes cameo appearances by DMX, Missy Elliot, Toni Braxton, Rosario Dawson, Montel Williams, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, and U-God of the Wu-Tang Clan among others. May Aaliyah's soul continue to rest in peace.
