Edible Water Bottle

At Superego, we’re pretty adamant about sustainability  and so are the brands we carry. It only makes sense that we highlight all the awesome innovations that answer questions such as “WTF do we do with plastic bottles?”

The answer: OHOO. It’s a container made from an edible algae membrane that can hold liquid. It sort of looks like flubber, if you’re old enough to remember that movie.

It was created by industrial design students Rodrigo García González, Pierre Paslier, and Guillaume Couche who were inspired by something many of us hate eating or take for granted, the egg yolk.

The designers hope to challenge the current system of bottle manufacturing to allow people to do this in their own kitchens. It’s almost like a plastic bottle civil rights movement. Oh, and did we mention it’s actually edible. No clue as to how it actually tastes, but different flavors could broaden the market.

Would you try it?
