Americans drank 6.3 Billion gallons of beer last year alone! 50 percent of this beer was consumed from cans. These cans come packaged with a 6-pack ring that can be very harmful to sea animals. Most of these plastic rings end up in the ocean and sea creatures in turn become entrapped in the plastic or ingest it. Saltwater Brewery has presented a solution to this huge issue.
They have created edible 6-pack rings. These rings are made from barley and wheat remnants from the brewery. When the edible rings are thrown out, they can either be eaten by the sea animals or the rings will decompose. This is a simple solution to a problem that has effected sea creatures for decades!
